We've not flown to Roche Harbor yet, but my husband has his pilots license and we try to fly to the islands when we can. A handful of years ago we flew to Orcas Island for a camping weekend and a couple years ago we flew to Point Roberts, a US enclave only accessible via Canada by car, and camped. The islands are so beautiful.

There is nothing better than the Seattle area in July/August. The most beautiful spot in the world.
The rest of the year was a struggle for me, we stayed 10 years and finally couldn’t handle the 10 months of cool and grey weather. I think I could have handled the grey, if it was about 15 degrees warmer but I couldn’t stand being chilled all the time anymore. Now I visit in late July and get my fix of that beauty.

I am not the wokest pencil in the box and some language policing goes to far.

However one thing I think I as a white lady of German extraction can avoid is calling myself “native” to a place in the United States. (It has come up in a few comments).

I think native means something really specific and it ain’t me.

I call myself a local but never a native.

So glad you enjoyed Seattle! I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. It’s pricy (the food mostly) but so beautiful. We’ve got all the big city things along with amazing nature in our midst. Perfect combo. Come back soon!
